Buying apartment buildings and investing in commercial real estate is a great way to create passive income.  You can get started with no money and bad credit IF you learn the right steps.  Today you’ll see a cool way that we train students to buy apartment buildings and create six figure passive incomes.

Let’s go back to 1954.

It was considered impossible for any human being to run one mile in under four minutes. Then on May 6th, Roger Bannister broke the world record and became the first person ever to run a mile in 3 minutes and 59 seconds.

Six weeks later an Australian ran a mile one second FASTER.

Crazy pants right?

For thousands of years nobody broke 4 minutes, then a guy does it and just a few WEEKS later another guy does it, how is that possible? This is called the Bannister Effect or the “Four Minute Mile Rule” and it explains how a self imposed limitation can be contagious.

Good news: breaking limitations can be just as contagious.

There are many more examples from history.

In the 1850s a math prodigy in India, Radhanath Sikhdar, discovered the highest point on earth was about 30,000 feet above sea level. It should’ve been named after Sikhdar but instead it was named after his boss George Everest.

From that day in 1850 the race was on to reach the top, or so they thought. In reality, people had been trying for thousands of years to reach the summit of Mount Everest but nobody ever did. It wasn’t until May of 1953 that Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary reached the peak and became the first humans to ever do it. That took thousands of years.

Three years later it was done again.

Today over 6,000 people have climbed Everest.

Another example?

Space travel was considered impossible for more than thousands of years. Then on April 12, 1961 Yuri Gagarin from Russia became the first human to journey into space. Less than a month later another guy did it. Today it is done by tourists for fun.

You see how crazy that is right?

A limitation is concrete for THOUSANDS of years, considered impossible by nearly all humans. Then ONE person breaks the barrier and the impossible becomes not only achievable but eventually easy.

The steel dragon becomes a paper tiger.

Why?

One word:

Standards.

Three lessons here:

1.) Standards are contagious

2.) Nothing changes until our standards change

3.) When we raise our standards, we raise our life AND the lives of others.

As Mandela said:
“It always seems impossible until it is done… As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”

Our lives are measured by what we help others do, remember significance repels people while vulnerability attracts them. Don’t be afraid to share your own struggles because it will give more weight to your victories over them. Killing limitations is contagious.

What standards are you accepting that you need to raise? Have you become blind to a limitation that is holding you back without even knowing it? What “Four Minute Mile” do you need to break? What “permission” ripples will it send others? How does that feel?

Changing just a SINGLE standard and lifting just one limitation can totally change your life.

You must SEEK to change your standards or you’ll be enslaved by them. You’ll be controlled by your environment, cable news, social media or some other toxic brainwash. Shape your surroundings or they’ll shape you.

Easy times create weak men, strong men create easy times.

It takes the same amount of work to make yourself weak as it does to make yourself strong. You already have a daily routine but you probably didn’t design it on purpose did you? Raising just a SINGLE standard can have a life altering ripple effect for generations.

You don’t always control what happens TO you…
but you always control what happens IN you.

That’s why it is so important that we do NOT settle, or that’ll be your whole life. This talk of raising your standards and lifting your gaze to a higher goal, mission and purpose – it reminds me of a quote from a book I’m reading called “Noble Purpose” by William Damon:

“Psychologists who study happiness repeatedly discover a puzzling paradox: the happiest people are those who pay little attention to the goal of becoming happy. Many of the things that we strive for in order to become happy seem to have little to do with it. Affluence, for example, is not strongly related to happiness except in cases of severe deprivation, where more assets are needed to gain basic levels of food, shelter, and family well-being. Status, glory, and other advantages that we avidly seek do not reliably make us any happier than we were before we acquired these treasures – any boosts in mood that they create usually prove temporary, wearing off soon after the initial glow of self-congratulation.”

(WOW, only temporary boosts in mood until your Mental Elevator brings you back to the floor you live on, he goes on…)

“What does matter is engaging in something that you find absorbing, challenging, and compelling. A noble purpose is a prime example of something that brings great personal satisfaction by bringing us outside ourselves into activities that capture our imaginations and promote the causes we believe in. Self-indulgence simply does not work. We end up feeling empty and resentful and not at all indulged, because we have failed to satisfy our truest and deepest desires: the universal yearning for a life with meaning.”

Wow – a deep purpose is necessary and ONLY comes from raising your standards.

“We are kept from our goal not by obstacles, but by a clear path to a lesser goal.”

That’s an old saying from India and it warns us of the dangers from low standards and accepting compromised rewards. Low standards become habits and disguise themselves as ceilings. You won’t know you put yourself in shackles if you don’t move.

We don’t just commit to our standards, but our standards are automatically created by whatever we commit to. Commit = Behavior. Behavior never lies. You’ll only achieve a goal if it is a standard.

I have been guilty of accepting low standards.

When I started training students I thought it was “good” for them to make just 5k/mo. Then it was 10k/mo. It stayed there for a while and I was afraid to say my students could make 20k or 30k/month because I didn’t think enough of my students were doing it.

It took me years before my first student made $100,000/month.

My second student make 100k/month – did it less than a month later.

Just a MONTH later, why/how?

My standards changed.

Now for my students to make 100k/mo ain’t no thing – it is no big deal.

It doesn’t matter if it is with houses, apartments or businesses or anything else – they are killing it and it is because my standards changed and it automatically raised their standards as well. All you have to do is raise ONE standard.
